Beverages can also be tricky for people; alcohol, coffee and tea can make heartburn flare up both because of their acidic quality and their caffeine content. Finally, dairy is considered soothing by many, but ice cream, sour cream and cottage cheese can kick up heartburn. Try limiting these foods and you just might be able to lay off those heartburn meds.
