Take Steps to Fight off Illness at the Holidays

imagesNo one ever wants to get sick, obviously, but it seems like dodging the germ war leading up to the holidays is a time when the stakes are the most high. For some people, it seems as though as soon as they get some time from work, to relax and decompress, they get sick. It’s like our bodies know we’re on vacation and our immune systems say “Oh, I don’t have to go to work for a few days? Sweet. Now is a good time to finally give in to that illness I’ve been fighting off for a month.” There’s nothing worse than being sick during a holiday when everyone else is out having fun, so it’s time to take extra precautions and to protect ourselves from the germ mine field that is the world.

 

Firstly, you cannot wash your hands too many times in the winter. It is simply the very best way to rid yourself of any and all germs that you picked up out there in the world. If you have sensitive skin that gets dried and cracks in the winter, then be sure to carry some hand sanitizer around and use it regularly. Take a multivitamin each day to make sure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to stay its strongest. And, if you have kids who are dragging home countless germs from school each day, if you work in a high-traffic area, or if you’re going to be flying or traveling amid a lot of people, you should take steps to beef up your immune system with a product such as Airborne, which helps your body fight off the common germs that cause illness.
